NB: approximate route.

There are seven hills on this ridge, five Hewitts plus another two Nuttalls. This would make a good linear walk if you had the transport.Using public transport would have meant waiting in the middle of nowhere for a bus then having to change to another bus. I decided to do it as a circuit, which made it quite a long walk, with a few miles on tarmac on a quiet road.
I started from Nantlle village, heading down the road towards Rhyd-ddu, past the farms at Tal-y mignedd and Drws-y-coed which some of the Mynydds are named after.
The north ridge of Y Garn looked like it might be an interesting way up- I made a brief attempt to climb it but gave up when the way was blocked by a high stone wall. Instead I followed a path which contours round the hill to join the main ascent route from Rhyd-ddu.

The first summit was the Nuttall top of Y Garn, and then there's a scramble along the ridge to Mynydd Drws-y-coed.

As I approached the next summit of Trum y Ddysgl it started raining. Although the rain stopped after awhile it stayed cloudy, and the rest of the day was spent walking through the clag, using the GPS app on my phone to check I was in the right place.

I managed to leave Trum y Ddysgl in the wrong direction, and had to climb back up when I realised my mistake, but apart from that the way ahead was fairly clear most of the way. There's a very tall cairn on the top of Mynydd Tal-y-mignedd

and then a bit of a scramble up to the highest point on the ridge, Craig Cwm Silyn.

The next top, Garnedd-goch, is reached by following a wall.

After leaving Garnedd-goch I found a grassy path which seemed to be going in the right direction. Fortunately, it led all the way up to the rocky summit area of Mynydd Graig Goch.
(The GPS route shown above was inputted manually and might not be accurate.)

I then had a long walk back. I descended via a long fence line which goes north-west from near the summit of Garnedd-goch.It wasn't easy to find a way through the farm land into the valley, but I eventually got down to the road near Tan-yr-allt, and back to the car just as it was getting dark.

So that's another 5 Hewitts in the bag. It was disappointing not to get better views, but now there's a reason to go back one day and hopefully find out what it looks like.

Good stuff and good hills these ones (even if you didn't get the weather for them).

Looks like you've got a great finish to the Hewitt and Wainwright round coming up. Can't go wrong with a bit of Bowfell :D

Great route - a real pity you didn't get all the ridge in good weather - as you've seen from the first section (and evident in your pic from Y Garn summit), it's spectacular both in itself and in the views it affords 360 degrees (and there's some first rate scrambling, I understand - but I only found this out after I'd walked the ridge).

When you were planning the route, did you consider a round starting and finishing somewhere around Rydd-Ddu? It avoids the road part, and the Moel Hebog - Moel yr Ogof - Moel Lefn ridge is a pretty fine counterpoint to the Nantile Ridge itself, not to mention the truly magical Cwm Pennant.

Looks not dissimilar to my day on the Nantlle Ridge last July - very promising at the outset then turned distinctly pants after Y Garn!
