My final two Hewitts in South Wales. I was camping the night before in Llandovery, so after packing up the tent, getting some breakfast in a cafe and driving to the car park, I was ready to start walking at 9.30.
I started from the top of a high pass on the A4069, on the western end of the Black Mountain range. It's a short grassy ascent to the first summit, Garreg Lwyd.

Garreg Lwyd (Moel Gornach) - so good they named it twice.

A path continues along the ridge to the 602m summit of Foel Fraith.

There's a longer descent to the next bwlch, and a bit of a scramble up some boulders to get onto the long ridge leading up to the summit of Garreg Las.

The only sensible way to get back was by going back over Foel Fraith and Garreg Lwyd, which meant I was making 5 ascents to bag the2 hills. However, it was still quite an easy walk, and I had plenty of time for the long drive home.

I've still to do these and hadn't thought about doing them from the west (I think the Nuttall book gives quite a long loop from the east). Good route!
