After a short drive out of Las Vegas I arrived at Red Rock Canyon park which after paying a fee you can enter a scenic drive. Along this scenic drive are various car parks with trail heads to explore this park.
This particular day I chose the Turtlehead peak trail as it takes a reasonable amount of effort.
The trail was well signposted and gave an interesting and hot ascent through this desert landscape.
The view from the top extended to the rest of the park and Las Vegas itself.

It is even better when there onsen, it is harsh though and I can only imagine how tough this would be in summer.
