Completing my second round of Wainwrights on Wastwater Screes. Combining it with three outlying fells (including a Marilyn) for a longer walk. .

Weather thankfully more overcast than recently.

1 Starting out through Eskdale.JPG
After parking at Forge Bridge I initially followed the fantastic track through Eskdale

2 Heading up.JPG
I started heading uphill behind Beckfoot station

4 Blea Tarn.JPG
Blea Tarn looked a lovely spot to chill out - but still plenty to be done today

5 Blea tarn hill looking to MF.JPG
Bleatarn Hill is a nice spot - looking over to Muncaster Fell where I hope to be later

6 Boat How ahead.JPG
Boat How now ahead - easy walking today but I imagine this is wet going usually

11 Whin Rigg ahead.JPG
Whin Rigg ahead - stay near the edge for the best views

12Yewbarrow and Screes from ridge.JPG
Yewbarrow prominent again and the screes as I look back along the ridge.

These two are almost certainly better done from Wasdale but you still get a fantastic ridge walk from any direction.

Second round done - it was remarked later that I could have looked happier.

Never really intended to do a second round but did a few out west with my Mum and Dad as they finished their rounds and realised it was within my grasp.

Funnily enough I now have only 30 or so to do for a 3rd round but doubt that I'll be finishing that any time soon - or I may as well have turned round and climbed these two again!

The ridge ahead to Irton Pike

16 MF from IP.JPG
Muncaster Fell from Irton Pike - getting increasingly anxious that the way I planned up that hill may be a no go.

17 Wasdale from IP.JPG
Wasdale from Irton Pike - a horrible jungle like descent from here to the Wasdale road.

18 MF ahead.JPG
Muncaster Fell ahead with the straight up route I had planned looking more and more unlikely

19 No route up.JPG
As suspected... the Northern flank (from Murthwaite Halt) looked like this. Very uninviting.

20 Hooker Crag ahead.JPG
So I headed round to the Western approach. Definitely the smart move even if it did add on a few miles.

Hooker Crag now ahead
