But you've chosen the second most boring route out of the 3... the best one you can just see the top of a track on the left of your photo - it comes up around there. You basically drive on the main road from The Castle Inn to Bothel and, just after the Bewaldeth turn on your right, there's a lovely track goes up between trees in the direction of the fell. That's a really nice route.
I once did Binsey twice in one day. I set off from the caravan on my folding bike and cycled from Ireby via Torpenhow & Whitrigg to that main road - went up Binsey on the route I'm suggesting above (on foot). Came back down and cycled along the Bewaldeth road to where it comes out onto the Ireby road which is the junction you've gone up from. I then decided to go up that track to Binsey as well as I hadn't done it for a few years
