Went up. Came down again... er that's it really. The only Wainwright that you could go up on a tractor-mower. Tumulus on the top quite impressive and nice wide views over the Solway and back to Over Water

. It seemed to be the only hill in the Lakes where it wasn't raining though.

That's my very local hill when I'm staying at my caravan... my Mum and Dad go up it all the time :D But you've chosen the second most boring route out of the 3... the best one you can just see the top of a track on the left of your photo - it comes up around there. You basically drive on the main road from The Castle Inn to Bothel and, just after the Bewaldeth turn on your right, there's a lovely track goes up between trees in the direction of the fell. That's a really nice route.

I once did Binsey twice in one day. I set off from the caravan on my folding bike and cycled from Ireby via Torpenhow & Whitrigg to that main road - went up Binsey on the route I'm suggesting above (on foot). Came back down and cycled along the Bewaldeth road to where it comes out onto the Ireby road which is the junction you've gone up from. I then decided to go up that track to Binsey as well as I hadn't done it for a few years

Presumably if its the second most boring out of 3, it's also the second most interesting? :?

Yeah - the most boring route I found was the one up from High Ireby, past the forest, and then plod up the boggy heathery slope to the top...

I'll try the lane route one day.
Can you get up the little nameless hill overlooking Overwater?

It's not nameless but I'm struggling to remember what it's called - it's either another Yewbarrow or Latterbarrow or something - one of those really common hill names anyway - I'll have to look it up next time I'm up there. Not officially, no - but I've had my eye on it for quite some time and am thinking of having a sneak up there one evening while the farmer's watching telly!

Yeah, that's the one... I knew there was another hill with the same name nearby... Anyway, my comments stand but I got the names wrong. We could organise a Walkhighlands 'Outside Scotland' mass trespass if you like? :D
