On Top of the Wolds.

Today the wife and I decided to escape for a few hours and head to a small village in the Lincolnshire Wolds called Nettleton.This area is the highest in Lincolnshire with Wolds top just over 150m above sea level.
On a clear day its possible to see Lincoln Cathedral,the Humber Bridge and River Trent from Wolds top but there was no such luck with the weather today.
The walk began at a small car park just south of Nettleton then on reaching the ridge on Nettleton hill we headed for the village.A short way out the village we picked up part of the Viking Way heading alongside Nettleton Beck through a long valley.At the end of the valley we past close to the highest point in Linconshire which is in a farmers field where a Trig pillar has been placed.This is where the Claxby radar is also.
After reaching a small road is was just a matter of heading north back to the car park.
Overall the walk was enjoyable with valley area looking very much like the Peak District.

Oooh, I was there last week. Stayed in a cottage at the farm in the valley whilst visiting relatives! Lived in Caistor for many years when a kid...

Its a nice area I usually go to the display in Caistor every Nov 5th at the park off Mill road.
