Sunday looked a miserable affair for most the week and I braced myself for looking for a quick, local weather window.

However by Friday the outlook was improving and on Saturday it had changed completely and a good day was certainly in store on the Sunday.

Set off to the lakes with no clear plan - just looking for the clearest fells which turned out to be the Coniston fells as I drove into Ambleside.

Clear skies, nice sunshine at times but a cold wind.

Old Man ahead - it's going to be a good day

I was originally going to follow the Walna Scar Pass but at the last minute decided to head via Goat's Hawse which I hadn't used for years.

Dow Crag over Goat's Water - you can see the South Rake to the left of the picture. I originally thought about doing this again but as a lot of the rocks were greasy and not properly dried out yet I thought better of it.

Looking back down to Goat's Water. Cold here and a place that won't get much sun.
