I left the car around 8:15 am from the Whinlatter visitor centre and followed a forest trail to Barf, just a minor bump but a great viewpoint for Bassenthwaite Lake and Skiddaw.

After resting a while i carried on, going over Lords Seat to reach Broom Fell, another minor peak but with a summit cairn over six feet high.

Looking back to Broom Fell, from the route to Graystones

A little over half an hour after leaving Broom Fell i reached the summit of Graystones. The weather was perfect, a gentle breeze under blue skies with cotton wool clouds drifting by.

Some days i do circular routes but today i reversed my outward route back, first over Broom Fell to Lords Seat, where i spent over 1 hour on the summit eating, chatting and taking in the views. After a short walk and another stop on Barf i followed the forest trail back to the car.

Really stunning photos and great weather - I want a day like that (I should stop moaning, just had a great day round Elgol)

I've never walked the Whinlatter Fells and they look a great way to avoid the crowds judging by your photos - the paths don't look too eroded either. The views of Bassenthwaite from Barf look superb. Hope you had a good easter.
