Our final walk of our Canada '19 trip - a return to Mt Temple! On our last attempt we turned back so close to the top, but exhausted and concerned we would run out of daylight. This time, we left this one to the end of our holiday and climbed several other smaller mountains leading up to it... and we did it no problem at all! 8) :D :D
Scoob's video

Checking out Moraine Lake from the rock pile viewpoint the night before
DSC05422.JPG
We were up before the sun :o but it had risen before we reached Larch Valley
DSC05425.JPG
Out of the trees, we could see almost to the summit - reassured, as we hadn't brought crampons or axes today (been monitoring weather and other reports for a few days)

Looking back as we head towards Sentinel Pass - less snow in this view this time around

Looking up to the Pass; just a few more switchbacks to go

Helmets on now; lots of loose rocks from here on up

Climb through the first of the rock bands

A friendly marmot (right, centre) takes in the view :D

Back to scree more than scrambling for a little while
DSC_1258.JPG
Catching breath, admiring the view :)
DSC_1260.JPG
More scrambling; plenty of good holds
DSC_1262.JPG
Gained a lot of height already
DSC05437.JPG
Another moment to stop and pose (catch a breath!)
DSC05438.JPG
Past all the rock bands; steep, loose ground all the way up now
DSC_1269.JPG
Several folks passed us on the way up; happy with our pacing though, we were going to do it this time!
DSC05441.JPG
Impressive cornices near the top (didn't go too close!)
DSC05442.JPG
Just above those cornices; good view of Moraine Lake from here!
DSC05443.JPG
View behind us; already passed our last visit's return point :)
DSC05449.JPG
Woohoo!! Summit smiles :) Snow meant there was no visible cairn or marker, so we stood on the highest point (careful of staying away from possible cornices)

A still captured from my summit 360 shot shows the small area of snow that is the top :D
We didn't hang around for long! Wind chill had me kicking myself for not taking more layers with me! To start with, travel down was almost as slow as going as it was on the way up
DSC_1281.JPG
Downclimbing the second rock band (the trickiest one, but still has good holds)
DSC_1289.JPG
Heading back towards Larch Valley; plenty of daylight left today!

A friendly chipmunk in the woods :)

Very happy with our stats - our stop time was less than on our last visit! It was definitely a good plan to do more Canadian hikes leading up to this one :)

Marilyn bagging will seem very tame after this...unless you get the sea stacks over while you can still do them. LOvely report.

Spectacular stuff! I'd love to visit the Canadian Rockies one day, it looks fantastic. :)

It must have been very satisfying to reach the summit this time. Well done!

Great write up Fi, looks like bloody hard work to me  A couple of bits of info, that Ice Wine chocolate was the best chocolate I have ever eaten, honestly I'd drive some miles to get another bar of that.

The other thing is that the chipmunk is actually a Golden Mantled Ground Squirrel, they look very similar but are much bigger

Ah, thanks Chris! We're not quite up on all the wee animals  Ice Wine was a new one on me, but it's in lots of gift shops with a choice of products - I'm sure they had it at Moraine Lake, so not too many miles for you  Glad you enjoyed it! Also hope you keep up posts on here; you're missed! x
