Just flicking through some walk reports when I should be working and stumbled across this; brilliant! I especially liked the photos of the summit rocks on Pen as I have used the same formations to illustrate the impact of volcanoclastic material on water-lain bedded ash deposits.
This is wonderful country and it's great to see someone of Tobey's age laying good foundations in terms of initiative and self-reliance!

Missed this first time around; what an outstanding trip. Definitely the connoisseur's way up SP, and to have made a 4-day expedition of it, all the better! I'm impressed that Tobey not only went through with it and kept a smile on his face, but actually planned it all - not bad for a 12-year-old! A fine photographic record too, with some stunning sunrise shots from the summit. Well done both of you.
