Cape Wrath Trail - July 2017

Cape Wrath Trail - July 2017

Postby andrewl7642 » Fri Mar 03, 2017 12:27 pm

I'm looking for company to walk the Cape Wrath Trail in July 2017.
I'll be backpacking with a tent and mostly wild camping throughout. It will take approximately 17 days.
Exact start date to be discussed.
Message me if interested. Cheers

Why don't you plan it on your own? It's easier if you only have to worry about your pace. I did it last year and in my case it would have been harder with company. In August you'll meet enough people on the way and you probably will be able to share some legs.

I may end up doing it on my own but it's nice to have some company even if it's just for some of it. I find it can get lonely after a few days by myself.

In this case, I recommend to compromise on the wild camping. If you plan the occasional stay in bothies (or camp next to the bothy) or hostels, you'll find plenty of people to talk to.

Enjoy!

This is also the plan (bothies, campsites, hostels) and I'm sure I will meet some people along the route but at the end of the day it's still nice to have a bit of company, someone to share the memories with, go to pub with, navigate with, etc.

From my personal experience. While walking on my own, I kept meeting interesting people in bothies and hostels, which was plenty for me. During the walk I was preoccupied with my blisters and my own thoughts anyway. But I was very happy to be able to talk about my experience and share memories once arrived at the cape. I was lucky to meet a couple there, who just completed as well, and we shared half a leg walking back to Kinlochbervie and spent the next day together finding our way back into civilisation.

Sharing memories and drinking a pint: if you have the time, don't rush your escape from the Cape. Spend a night at Kearvaig or the Cape and stick around for a bit.

Hi, I am also doing the scottish national trail this year. I would be hoping to finish around the same time as you however can't get that much time off work. Id be happy to catch you up for 3 to 5 days depending on timings.

I'd be up for that AMabon. Some company is better than no company. Send me a message nearer the time and we can arrange the dates.

Hi Peter, nothing has been booked yet so the date is flexible, could start in July, August or even September. Basically to suit anyone else that would like to come.

Hi Andrew, I posted a message few days ago looking for someone who is planning CWT, preferably at the end of summer/ start of autumn. I can see you would be willing to go in september, so if you interested, please message me.
Maybe we can find a solution that will work for both of us, of course after we get to know each other, at least a bit.

It's been moved forward to July now, there are two of us going and we are meeting up at Morvich 4 days into the hike.
You are welcome to join us but we won't be able to change the date now sorry.

Message me if interested.
