Rather than have forums or threads for meets from each club that don't really get used, it seems more sensible and less random to have a sticky club directory to help you find a suitable club for your area and activity.
To see your club link listed here, simply get your club's webmaster to add a link to Walkhighlands from your club's website and then contact us using a private message or the contact form and we'll include you. It's not much bother and these things help us to keep providing Walkhighlands for free.
We will only list established walking or mountaineering clubsThe following clubs all help support and are supported by Walkhighlands with a link:
Glasgow areaScottish Hillwalkers and Activities GroupThis group was founded to be run by the members for the members and we'll be doing a variety of walking - from single Munros, to multiple Munros, scrambling over ridges, weekends away and a selection of low level longer walks, pub walks and summer evening walks.
Junior Mountaineering Club of Scotland - Glasgow section*The historic name belies the fact we have members from 18-85 involved in all aspects of mountain activity - hillwalking, rock and winter climbing, skiing, mountain biking and kayaking. Active weekend meet calendar across the country, access to club huts and regular indoor/outdoor climbing evenings.
Cairn Ban Mountaineering Club - SW Glasgow & Central Belt*
We are based in Kilbarchan (south-west of Glasgow), but our members live much dispersed throughout the central belt of Scotland and far beyond. The mainstay of of activities is a fortnightly Sunday outing during the winter, but we have various other events well. We are affiliated to the MCofS.
Glasgow Glenmore ClubOur activities centre on hill walking and mountaineering. Outdoor (day and away) meets normally attract 10-30 members but we usually self-organise into much smaller subgroups. We have members bagging Munros, Corbetts or Grahams, and we have been known to do lower-level walks in bad weather. Some, but not all, of our programme is during the week so would suit those with flexible working hours or freshly retired folk looking for hillwalking companions. New members of all ages are very welcome.
