The Corrour 3 - Saturday 28th June

The Corrour 3 - Saturday 28th June

Postby MG1976 » Thu Jun 12, 2014 3:10 pm

Myself & Fife Fyler are looking at the 3 Corrour Munros on Saturday 28th June.
Plan is to catch the train from Crianlarich.

In order to give ourselves a longer day, we're looking at catching the early morning Scotrail Sleeper service.
The Sleeper must be booked in advance, so anyone who wants to join us, will need to bear this in mind.

Train Times are as follows:

Departs Crianlarich: 0746
Arrives Corrour: 0859
£20.20 (Anytime Day Single) - Advance Booking/Reservation Mandatory.

Departs Corror: 1825
Arrives Crianlarich: 1922
£12.20 (Advance Single) - Booking required, for this price.
£20.20 (Anytime Day Single) - If bought on-board train.

This allows 9+ hours to complete the 3 hills.

We'll be keeping an eye on weather over next week, before booking tickets.
Let us know if you fancy joining us.

Martin (& Martin - FF)

MG1976,

Probably telling you something you already know but you can pick sleeper up from Dalmuir, just seen your based in Glasgow. The ticket fare would be more no doubt.

A couple of mates did same plans a few weeks back but where not allowed into resturant for food and had to wait about till train starving. Opening hours might have changed since the weather has picked up.

Got plans that day or would have jumped at chance of some company on these hills.

Hope you have a great day.

Just to complicate things further, Mr Flyer, my plan to bring my juniors to visit Grannie have now been binned.
She's away on holiday with my other brother and his kids. Inconsiderate family, trying to scupper my hill plans...

Still planning on coming, but i'll now need to have to travel across to Preston from York late Friday night, and catch the Sleeper from there. I'll need to meet the rest of you at Crianlarich, when you join the train there.

I have just called Scotrail bookings (0330 303 0111) to check availability, and they are recommending booking at least a week in advance. Current availibity, for the Crianlarich to Corrour Leg, is okay, and one-way price is currenly £10.10 . Will be similar price for the return leg on the normal 1825 service southbound.
Not sure we'll be able to wait till midweek (next week) to check forecast, we we may just have to bite the bullet on this one.

So, who's still in?
Is everyone happy to arrange there own tickets. ???

Booked and looking forward to this.

BTW, with ScotRail I didn't get charged a booking fee, just a straight £16.20.

Cheers.

Right !!!!!
We better get decent weather for these 3.
That's me all booked up, but i'm thinking my train trip to Corrour might well be more eventful than the hills themselves.

I'll be setting off early for this one.....

Leave York 2130 Friday Night
Across to Manchester and then up to Preston for 2330
Enjoy the delights of Preston Train Station until the Sleeper Train arrives at 0050

At least I get eight hours of sleep after that.
If I can drag myself out of my bunk, i'll come and sit with the rest of you from Crianlarich.

Looking forward to this one; one repeat and 2 new "blues".
Am I really gonna do "Na Lap" again?
