Climbing partner // Lochaber ridges // late Feb

Am looking for a partner for some winter ridges last week in February. Subject of course to the conditions, the following routes are on my list. If the weather craps out my aspirations will be less ambitious.

- Aonach Eagach (Glencoe)

- North Ridge of Stob Ban + Devil’s Ridge

- Ballachuilish horseshoe

- Golden Oldy (Aonach Mor)

I’ve done a fair amount of Scottish winter climbing (to grade II/III) and summer Alpine (to AD) with guides and a good amount of solo winter munro bagging and summer scrambling.

I’ve spent plenty of time as the second climber on a climbing rope but haven’t led any roped climbs in winter and have only just started to lead summer rock in the last 12 months.

It would be good to find a partner with a similar experience to me (or more) who would be comfortable sharing the lead on alpine style ridges up to grade II. Ideally someone with experience of moving together, belaying, abseiling and placing gear.

My plan would be to arrive Glasgow on Sunday 24th. I’d be coming from Belgium (via London) and would rent a car at the airport. I have all the personal kit I need and would bring some slings and quick draws but I don’t have easy access to a climbing rope or much gear (I do own a rope and a basic rack of nuts / hexes but they are currently stored at my parents’ house in the W.Midlands rather than with me in Belgium) so if you have a 50m rope and a basic winter climbing rack, all the better.

Thanks AK. Since posting this I managed to get the last spot on the London Mountaineering Club winter meet in late Feb so unfortunately probably won’t manage another trip to Scotland this year in winter conditions (unless they persist into April).

If you’re up for something a bit later in the spring or some summer climbing let me know.
