Great Glen Way

Great Glen Way

Hi - looking for information on the Great Glen Way (GGW) walk. My wife and I (both mid-60s) are planning to walk the GGW in early May 2017. Our plan (due to time constraints) is to walk from East (starting in Drumnadrochit) to West (Fort William) over 5 -6 days with overnight stays in pubs, b&bs, hotels etc (to old for that camping caper). Will be carrying only mid-weight backpacks and consider walking 20kms - 30 kms a day well within our capability (having previous done the Camino).

Coming from Australia we are more used to walking in warmer conditions and would appreciate any (and all) advice regarding weather, walking conditions, track marking, accommodation, clothing, special things to see - what to avoid.

No advice or tips would be gratuitous as we have never been to Scotland.

Thank you & cheers from OZ.

Hello,
Have you looked in on the information given in the Walks/Fort William/Great Glen section for the Great Glen Way?
Just press for Walks etc. on the top most banner at Walkhighlands.
I have only ever been along the Trail on my Off-road Bike so wouldn't have the more precise data that a walker would have. :)

The Scottish-specific stuff is : Midge head masks. Midge repellent.

Also, you will likely require more waterproofs than you think.
