Formating UL does not seem to use normal BBcode

Postby Gythral » Fri May 19, 2017 11:44 am

"[url='https://url.here']description[/url]" does not seem to parse as a url & the URL button does not seem to allow adding a url to English

[url]Test URL[/url]

What is the current method of turning a URL into something readable?

We haven't changed anything - it's the same as always...

I think your example doesn't work because you've put the apostrophes around the url='http...' - should just be url=http ... The second one doesn't work as it isn't a URL. Just posting the url without any bbcodes also works unless the url is very long (in which case you have to use the bbcode method).

Links tend without [url][/url] tags get broken by using the Preview function (or by editing a post) if they are more than about 55 characters (which isn't really that long). I think this started happening relatively recently.

Unfortunately this is a feature of the software - not something new :? . It's best to use the URL code to put links in as as you say, the 'magic' links functionality only works for short links.

Hmmm, had a look at the code and it doesn't seem difficult to delete the bit that shortens the links and breaks the longest ones... hopefully all links will now stay full length (and thus work properly)

Thanks for poking me on this as could have been done before.

Testing http://www.stupidlyveryveryveryveryveryveryveryveryveryveryveryverylongurl.com

Edit: survived preview and editing without breaking.

Great, thanks very much for fixing this!
