How to... include a photograph in a post

I have been using Photobucket mainly for uploading pictures onto Walkhighlands, it seems my free limit is kicking in with them.
I recall a similar problem with Flickr...some problem like if I downloaded more pictures I could not see some of the old ones.

I was told that it is possible to use my Facebook photos? But cannot find the 'BBCODE'
I have also looked at Picasa 3 to do this, again with no luck, Is it possible from it?
Otherwise, what other free photo hosting sites could I use?

How many photos have you got? You get 1 Terabyte for free on flickr these days!

I don't have a Facebook account but it looks like you can just right click (or however your browser does it) and copy the image URL. Then just paste it here and put the [img] tags round it.

Perhaps the limit went up on Flickr after I used it last (a few years back) Perhaps I will try them again.
As far as the Facebook option goes, I right click, copy image URL, paste in a walk report, highlight the URL and press the URL tag to put the [img] tags round, I then press preview and it just shows it as a link not a picture.

I'm a bit confused (easily done  ): you need to click the Img button to get [img] tags, not the URL one, which gives you [url] tags.

I'd recommend Flickr with BBcodes now - as jmarkb says, the limit now is 1tb which is pretty huge.

I don't think the facebook image addresses stay the same over very long periods - so walk reports with facebook photos will eventually disappear. Flickr actually allows people in their terms to share photos on forums, and so should work more permanently.

Wondering if anyone has a problem posting photos since the new Flickr 'experience' has gone live last week. I can now only find 'html' or 'embed' options and neither works on this site. I've got two walk reports with loads of photos but can't add them. Help!

After some research I found the answer to my own question. Firstly, you have to make your photo public. Then you select the sharing icon and click on the pin icon. That will give you the BBCode. However, it seems one cannot then click on the photo link from the WH site to view the photo in full size in Flickr.

I normally make most of my hill photos private as they are not of much interest to most of my Flickr followers but can no longer do this. Flickr seems to be really shrinking their world!

If you mean the PC program (rather than the Picasa website which works like Flickr) - select the photos, then choose 'Export picture to folder' from the File menu. Set to resize to 690px, choose where you want them to go, then 'Export'. You can then upload these versions to your reports :)

The recommended method is still uploading them to another website such as Flickr, Photobucket (or Picasaweb - I presume they let you do this as well) and just linking them to Walkhighlands, rather than uploading them. This is because the other sites will distribute your photos over several different servers which makes them appear in Walk reports quicker.
