Silva dry map case

Silva dry map case

Postby 3peaker » Sat Feb 26, 2022 1:50 pm

Hi, does anyone own one of these dry map cases?
I recently purchased a new map case from Silva and I can't close the map case despite several attempts at home.
There must be a knack to do this, can anyone offer any tips?
The product looks good but it is not really going to be any better than a zip lock sandwich bag.
Regards, Malcolm

I have found the Silva ones very awkward to close.
I use the Ortleib A3 one now. A Velcro closure that is foolproof. My original one lasted about 5 years before failing.

Thanks for your comments.
I have managed now to close the Silva dry map case after researching the various reviews for these product but it is very fiddly and awkward to use.
I wish I have undertaken a review before making this purchase.
I would not recommend the Silva dry map case products at all.

I agree the Silva is v fiddly. I am struggling with it now. Which review gave you the answer? Or can you explain it?

In order to close the silva dry map case, it is very tricky but I have found that if you hold the map case in both hands and place one thumb at the back of the seal and bend the seal over your thumb - this seems to open up the seal sufficiently to push the seal in properly. Start at one end and work across the map case.
I think with some use the seal will become easier to close hopefully.
