However, are you then better off shelling out the extra for the Big Agnes Fly Creek it's based on? Realise that would be around £320 plus footprint, but its fly is 20D and still the same weight.

I'm leaning towards thinking it's worth a punt on the NH, given the price saving, but is it a false economy in this case (worth noting it will only get used sporadically given I'm not able to get into the hills more than a handful of times a year at present)

[b]Malrc[/b - Your jargon here has confused me slightly. What do you mean by 'footprint' in this context?]

Footprint is just an additional layer of fabric that goes under the tent. Generally necessary for thin bottomed tents when there is potential for rocky ground, etc.

Lanshan pro2 arrived yesterday, 1198g with pegs and guys. Fits me well at 6'2", and looks plenty big enough for Mrs to squeeze in too.

Looks really well made, I'm impressed.

10 days delivery from china, not bad.

Did you get hit by any customs fees?

No, I'm not aware of customs fees being applied to purchases from China, never heard of it tbh, only stuff I've bought from the US.

I had to pay customs fees when I bought my Cloud Peak 2 from Ali Express in the summer, and a few years ago buying a bike frame direct too.

I always get Customs Fees now if I import (China/USA).

When I bought my Cloud-Peak 2 I found a Naturehike Spanish warehouse, they only had a stock of 4 and by the time the discount-day arrived they were down to their last one. But it guaranteed no customs fees. (That'll change next year lol).

Just a thanks to Marty and everyone else who's recommended Lanshan gear. After a lot of umming and ah-ing, an extensive research process, and three large bottles of beer, I finally ordered the 1-p Lanshan Pro a little over a week ago and it arrived today. Early days - not even sealed the seams yet - but am impressed with the build quality, the ease of the pitch, and the amount of room inside. Plus the impressive weight / size. Looking forward to getting it out on the hills, although all the tales of clegs and ticks lately is putting me off.

You only have to pay import tax on items worth more than £135, normally this wasn't a problem with Ali Express, but if their prices keep creeping up, then they better watch their tents don't become less attractive to buy. :?

The Lanshan Pro 1 is essentially a 1.5 person tent. There's loads of space for all your kit and a decent porch for cooking in too. I've just seam sealed mine, so hoping to test it out property this weekend.

Any tips on the sealing? What did you actually seal, I seem to people sealing the four (?) seams, but also the sown guying points. Hoping to get that done this weekend, if the weather holds.

There's loads of videos on YT of folks seam sealing, one by a guy called Border rambler is pretty good.

I always use McNett Silnet straight out of the tube onto the seams and work it in with my finger then let the tent dry for 24 hours. Never had any leaks. You can also add some white spirit in to dilute it and the sealant will spread a bit further and work into the seams more.

According to Ali Express, you only need to seal the 4 seams. I went a bit Belts & Braces and sealed the tie out points and around the top.
