Salomon boot repair - split upper - help?

Salomon boot repair - split upper - help?

Postby TonyCarrigan » Mon Jan 11, 2021 11:27 pm

Hello

one of my Salomon boots has developed a small split in the upper just at the toe crease (see attached photo). Just wondering if any kind soul could offer me a suggestion as to how to repair it, assuming this is possible?

The Goretex membrane underneath the upper is undamaged but I would like to fix the split anyway to avoid future damage to the membrane etc. (I really like the boots, very comfortable.)

Have done a fair bit of Googling, found references to a couple of products that sound like they might be relevant:
"STORMSURE Boot Shoe & Wader Repair Kit"
"SEAM GRIP SEAM SEALER & OUTDOOR REPAIR ADHESIVE"
...but I thought I would ask on here before spending any money...

Many Thanks

Before I even saw the picture, I was thinking Stormsure. As its slightly flexible when cured, it should cope pretty well with the abuse on footwear. Try and keep it fairly thin, I suspect a big "glob" of it would struggle to flex and might be more prone to come off.
Stick the tube in the freezer after and it'll last for ages.
