This is good advice.
When using the 'hooked' style of eyelets on boots (rather than the D-rings) always loop down from the top of each eyelet and go all the way round it before moving up the ankle to the next one.
In addition, when tying the first part of the shoelace knot (i.e. the bit that lies flat before you start doing the bow on top) always loop the laces through an extra turn (so it looks like three 'twists' to put your bow on top of instead of two). The extra turn locks off the laces and makes tying the bow much easier even with slippy laces (Scarpa are notorious).
