Snugpak Scorpion 2 Tent & Fatigued Pole

Snugpak Scorpion 2 Tent & Fatigued Pole

Postby Maverick777 » Wed Apr 07, 2021 2:29 pm

Hi All,

I was given a Snugpak Scorpion 2 tent during lockdown as a gift. I thought I would test it today but one of the grey tipped (straight) poles at a join, I have no receipt because it was gift. I’ve contacted Snugpak customer care and they will help. Looking at replacement poles at a cost of £90.00 . Which seems excessive for one small cracked part. As anyone attempted a repair? If so what does one use?

Cheers

A suggestion:
A piece of aluminium tube to make a sleeve over the damaged section could be glued (epoxy ?) in position and making sure there were no sharp edges that might damage the tent material and provided the added diameter would still pass through the sleeve on the tent.

You can buy DIY replacements from the outdoor shop of your choice.
E.g. https://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/camping/tent-spares/tent-poles/

Thanks for the link. But they do not stock Snugpak. Sadly Snugpak do not hold replacement stock. I sent the pole away for repair too LSR Lancashire Sports Repair, who have stated that it’s an unusual size ferrell, and they are not sure if they can repair. Disappointed that their site makes no mention of potential sizing issues, prior too paying for it to be posted. It’s taken nearly a week too establish this.

At that price I'd have measured the length of the pole and made a brand new one from DAC aluminium.

Scottish Mountain Repair cost double the amount and charge £10.00 for return postage.
