Boot glue

Boot glue

Postby Ali and Alex » Fri May 21, 2021 6:12 pm

Long-time lurker, first time poster, blah blah blah

I have an old(ish) pair of Salomon goretex boots (not sure exactly the model, they say 3D on them). The soles of both are beginning to gape a bit at the instep. Any recommendations for good glue to stick them back on? I guess it needs to have some flex in it.

The goretex has become less than waterproof in places, so they are dry/summer boots now, but they are super light and comfy and I'd like to keep wearing them for as long as possible.

Thanks in advance!

A contact adhesive and a gclamp may work. I did the heel of one of my boots but also had enough depth to put a few wood screws in too.

Or(and I am currently experimenting with this). Ob1 adhesive seems to be very interesting. I bought some for some heavy duty work on my house and had enough left over to reseal the sole on my running shoes. So far results seem promising.

Try Shoe-goo, bit expensive but works.

The ob1 glue experiment so far seems to be working. Trail running shoes have had a fair bit of abuse and the repairs are still holding.

Old topic but I will share anyway. For future reference

I've used this before
https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07CTQT99D
Its polish glue which directly translates as "shoemaker glue"
If you follow instructions (provided in English) it works wonders. I've used it on my old pair of walking boots to glue the sole and do a small fix. few years later it still holds
