Boot Recommendations for people with wide feet?

Boot Recommendations for people with wide feet?

Postby Rudi Richardson » Sun Jun 13, 2021 2:43 pm

I have very wide feet, for example if I go into a shop a 4 will generally be the correct length but too tight but a 5 will be too long but big enough for my feet to fit. Not many places have half sizes so are there any boot recommendations for people with wide feet?

Nevisports do half sizes if that helps - they have a branch in Edinburgh.

Meindl are wider than a lot of makes and although most Scarpa boots are narrow fitting they do some on a comfort last which are wider. Most shops let you try the boots out at home indoors, a good tip I was given is wear them while doing the hovering, all the standing twisting and turning can be a good test of their comfort.

Another vote for Altberg - only relly comfy boots I've had.

Salewa - but the heal is narrower than some
Meindl I find wide enough but genterally too low volume

Keen - for a more summer 'boot'

Meindl do a wide range and they are wide.

The standard Meindl boots are fairly narrow at the toes – too narrow for me.

Like you say I know Meindl do a wide fit range, but I don’t know anywhere that stocks them.

Anyway, I’m another happy Altberg user. Have a pair of Tethera (comes in 5 widths and half sizes) which I have just had resoled, and my favourites, a pair of Nordkapp which are wide at the toes but narrower at the heel.
