Alternatives to Meindl Bhutans

Alternatives to Meindl Bhutans

Postby AdamR » Fri Jan 21, 2022 1:58 pm

I've had my Bhutans for 3 years now & they've covered 70 Munros & numerous low level walks. They've served me well in that time, still in pretty good condition but due to my gate have worn excessively on the heel. I'm not interested in getting them re-soled but i'm in the market for another pair of 3 seasons boots which are equally stiff & supportive to the ankle.

I've a feeling I'll end up with another pair of bhutans but was wondering what other options there were? especially something weighing a little less.

TIA Adam

I went from Bhutans to Scarpa Rangers. The sole is a bit more flexible but otherwise pretty similar boots. Prior to the Bhutans I had the Meindl Vakuum but the soles on those wore down way too quick for the price but worth getting if you can get them cheap.

The Altberg Tethera might be worth a look.

I don't know how stiff the the Bhutans are but, I have a pair of Q3 Braeriachand they seem quite stiff and are reasonably comfy out the box.

The anatom are also on offer at sportpursuit. Picked up pair the other week with a bonus extra 20% off.
Seem like a good boot.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look at these options when getting fitted for my next pair of boots.
