Sleeping bag/ quilt

Sleeping bag/ quilt

Postby shawshank02 » Sun Jul 24, 2022 11:51 pm

Hi, I’m wondering if there are any recommendations for sleeping bags/ quilts. Budget is about £100 and looking for something that would fit me at 6’2, pack down fairly small, weigh less than 600g and have a comfort level temperature of 0C or there abouts. Would be grateful for any tips.

You're going to struggle with that budget for those specifications. Anything that weighs around 600g and rated to 0°c will most likely have to be a down bag, rather than synthetic.

Have a look at Alpkit or Cumulus Equipment for decent bags that are not quite as expensive.

Have a look for snugpaks too.
But as already mentioned you’ll need to compromise on one of your criteria.

Cheap,
Light,
Warm,

…pick any two.

I'm six feet tall* and use a snugpak softie which is synthetic and good for frosty nights; if you feel cold at zero degrees, put clothes on and put your coat over your sleeping bag. Dunno how much it weighs, not too much, and packs down neat. I've had it for over twenty five years so it wears well.

Agreed, It's the outdoor gear equivalent of "Good, fast and cheap"

Another vote for Snugpak here, their synthetic packs are quite reaonable and they have some expanding bags that give a little extra room if you need it.

I use a snugpack softie 3 great bag with two zips so it's expandable for the width to give a wee bit more wriggle room
