Agree Marty for 2019 tents/ shelters
MLD, Tarptent....etc...... Aliexpress.
Forget Terra Nova... overpriced and antiquated features. They don’t even come near what the US Cottage Companies offer in features and value. Terrible customer service guaranteed.

Big Agnes ok 3 seasons and sensible choice of pitch in inclement weather.
Have used the Big Agnes Copper Spur 2 up on the Pennines but no Apex (above door) tie outs so when the wind changes direction sides billow in... not good.

Don’t discount the MSR’s
No problem pitching Inner first.... it becomes a way of life
I’ve used the Hubba Hubba at 5,000 mts up in glacier terrain
Not a 4 season tent tho really. Sensible pitch choice helps... more shelter needed
Just make sure it’s well ‘tethered’!!
And you have warm clothes!

Tarptent Scarp ok in Winter. Even better if used with the 2 cross poles which makes it free standing

Aliexpress/ Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 Tent. It’s a copy of the Hilleberg Allak but weighs less
Also used this in lousy conditions on the N Pennines. Need to wrap guy lines around the poles Hille mode tho to boost stability. Otherwise a cracking shelter

For less money but more weight look at the Berghaus range. Good deals/price matches.
Even the cheapo’ Peak 3.1 PU tent is a real performer in strong winds if guy’d out fully
Obviously 1 person and heavy but.... look at the 3.3 tunnel 2 and 3 person versions if price an issue

Also The Hexpeak Range
Luxe Outdoor
backpackinight.co.uk
Teepee’s are classic winter tents
A whole range of ‘hot tents’out there now
