another etrex 10 question

another etrex 10 question

Postby mrssanta » Sun Feb 17, 2013 9:02 pm

I think it is a great piece of equipment which tells me all sorts of exciting stuff like how far I have walked, what my top speed was and so on, but I would like it to tell me how much height I have climbed on my walk. I know the information is in there, but how do I get it to show? I can make a profile on my computer but that is not the same. Any clues?

Hi, according to the manual you need to look for a data field called "Ascent - Total" and put that in your profile. :)

maybe the etrex 10 doesn't allow that data field, but it seems a bit odd. have tried updating the firmware but it still isn't there.

I think you might need to enable the field in question first, open this link: Etrex PDF manual and go to page 28, hope it will solve your problem.

i have an etrex 10 and it does tell you the ascent in metres
It is in the compass
I have mine set up with
time of day
elevation
eta at dest
time to next
try changin the profile to recreational
and then go to the compass page
you should have four boxes above the compass as above
hope this helps

thanks to all for your input. still can't find the field called Ascent - total which is the one I want. I have tried updating the firmware and everything. I have come to the conclusion that when the manual says all the data fields are not available on every model it means Ascent-total is not enabled on the Etrex 10. disnae really matter it just would have been nice.
