Lower end light weight waterproof?

Lower end light weight waterproof?

Postby Msp1987 » Thu Jul 30, 2015 1:29 pm

Hello,

Looking for advice on a couple of jackets I have seen advertised at Gooutdoors. I am looking for a lightweight jacket to take hillwalking just incase it rains. I currently have a Paramo Aspira smock but it is too warm for the summer.

Does anyone have any experience of the Montane Atomic, Marmot precip or the Hagloffs Bliss? These are all around £60 in the sale.

Thank you.

As I have just said in another thread, I have a Marmot PreCip and can highly recommend it for exactly the need you specify. It is totally waterproof, very windproof, nicely breathable, and very light. At £57 right now, it's a bargain.

Worth a read > http://www.outdoorgearlab.com/Rain-Jacket-Reviews/Marmot-PreCip

...although that's not to say that your other options aren't good either.

The Precip is a fine jacket for the price, and you'll do fine with it, although I'd say the hood's better on the Atomic.
Despite my Haglofs addiction I haven't tried the Bliss.

If you like Haglofs, whatever you do, don't try any of Fjallravens stuff - you will wonder why you ever liked haglofs and have a new, rather more expensive addiction

I've reviewed a fair bit of kit from Fjallraven. It's good kit, but Haglofs still make stuff like it was designed for me personally.
