royal mail jacket as a hard shell?

royal mail jacket as a hard shell?

Postby bigcalm » Fri Dec 09, 2016 7:30 pm

Just wondering if it would be wise to use RM jacket as a hard shell for scottish winter (paired with gleece or light down jacket). I am rather on budget and i would rather prefer not to spend hundred huiq for proper gore tex stuff.
what's your opinions about it?

Should be OK, they are Goretex, aren't they? Does the hood give you good face protection? A wash (with Tech Wash or similar) and a reproof might be worthwhile.

no, it's not goretex, it's rather not breathable, but windproof, watertight and lightweight. also hood is first class,

Ok if your posting mail, but I'd hesitate for any winter walking. I found this wee bargain worth a look: http://www.karrimor.com/karrimor-alpiniste-jacket-mens-442151?colcode=44215169
Its Event and just as good if not better than goretex in some respects
worth a look if nothing else
