Wanted: 1 or 2 person tent 2kg or under

Thought I'd try to find something used to make the cost of getting started a teeny tiny less painful.

Looking for a 1 or 2 person tent. As long as I can get my rucksack and my 5' self inside (and can reasonably comfortably sit up and get changed) I'll be happy. 2kg or under and a max of £100. Within a 1.5hr train ride from Glasgow would be ideal.

You might struggle beating the 2kg mark for that sort of money. But I have a Vango Banshee 200, that the internet informs me weighs 2.35kg, that I have no use for. It's a robust little tent, served me well during my walking apprenticeship. Let me know if that'd interest you.

If you shop around, you should be able to buy a brand new Wildcountry Zephyros 1 tent. Think they're around 1.6kg.

You can probably pick up a Vango Blade 200 for less than £100. Swap the guy lines for Dyneema cord and the pegs for lighter ones. Mine is just a sliver over 2kg now. Awesome tent :D

That said, if you're only 5ft a Blade 100 would probably do you. Just over 1kg. I'm about 6.1 and the 100 worked ok for me on the CWT.

I was seriously considering the Blade 100 (being short is the best). I read that the ventilation was pretty poor, have you had any major issues with condensation? Is it fairly stable in the wind?

Hi, I went for the blade originally for the height. I wanted to be able to sit up.
I had some fairly heavy showers and never had any wetness inside. If there is any condensation, the steep angle of the walls let it run away.
Although I was impressed with the 100, I've swapped to the 200 for extra space. After a week or 2, the 1 man gets pretty cramped for a big guy. The lighter weight was necessary for the CWT though...
If it's only its only your 'short' self, I'd definitely go for the 100. Don't try to squeeze anyone else in though

I remember watching a video of the 100 on YouTube in strong wind!!!

No probs. Hope you're happy with it.

Just remembered, there's another vid on YouTube showing how to set it up to pitch all in one. Keeps from getting your inner wet if it's already raining.

Enjoy
