Osprey Tempest / Talon Backpack

Osprey Tempest / Talon Backpack

Postby cdutson » Wed Dec 13, 2017 1:30 pm

In Helen Webster's review of the Osprey Tempest 30l women’s backpack, she says, 'There just remains the mystery of the narrow mesh pocket on left hand shoulder strap' . I've just bought the men's version and the guy in the shop said the narrow mesh pocket was for an energy gel. Apparently the pack is popular with cyclist and fell runners for whom this would obviously be handy. As someone with type 1 diabetes, it will be handy for my glucose tablets. I'll be able to easily check that I have them and they will be obvious to anyone needing to get glucose into me.

my compass goes in there. it takes a bit of effort to get it in, but it doesn't fall out, and I tie the lanyard to one of the loops. Also a geobar, or a mars bar, or any other calorific bar if I have decided to put the compass somewhere else. As for energy gel, yeuch! each to their own though.

I used to put my Garmin Etrex 10 in the wee mesh pocket, but the mesh started to become a bit torn & holey. I just put my anemometer in the one that isn't torn now.
