Suggest me a camera

My lovely old, small Pentax K100D DSLR has finally died.

I'm happy to lug it when needed for nice shots, so obvious thing is a new body with the old lenses. It was nice to have a cheap (£60 second hand...) body that I would take out in poor weather, down rivers, in rucksacks....
However, some compact/smaller things have great image quality these days, and as ever my skills are the limiting factor usually, not the gear.
I'm not flush, so second hand or cheaper would be good, maybe £200.

Make some suggestions for an affordable, good image camera or body...

I use a Sony RX100 compact which I whip out at the first sign of a potential photo opportunity. Always handy in the breast pocket and takes quality pics. Not a DSLR but if you wanted a compact alternative this is a great choice.

With your investment in lenses it sounds like another body is perhaps the most sensible option!

Another vote for the Sony RX100, I have the MKIII which costs around £500. But the MKI and II are still decent as they all have the 1" sensor.

I have heard the Sony is a very good compact. However, I've never had one, still preferring to lug a DSLR round with me. One day I won't want to, I'm sure.

If you have good Pentax lenses, and were prepared to replace your old camera body, then I'd suggest a good second hand K5, which you can easily pick up for £200. As you probably know, the K5 is an awesome landscape camera, and very good in low light, which is a bonus.

Of course, I'm biased, as I'm a Pentax user too!

I've 'only' the pair of kit lenses, a lovely 50mm manual and less than great 70mm....

Not such a big wrench, then, to leave Pentax.

I've got more like a house full of lenses!

And 4 bodies!

Another vote for the RX100, I got a MK1 off ebay about this time last year for £220 but saw one going for as low as £160.

If I remember correctly, the MK2 onwards have a wider angle, lower zoom lens.

I too have an RX100 & love it. Has most of the functionality of an SLR re choosing which priority to shoot with & can shoot in RAW.

Nope that is MK3 and upwards. MK2 has a movable rear screen plus some other stuff. Same lens as MK1 though. The MK3 lens is much brighter but, as you say, lacks the zoom range.

Have a look at the Olympus Tough TG range. You should be able to get the TG4 for around your price range.

Indestructible and a decent camera.

Seeing as you already have the lenses I'd recommend a second hand pentax. I have a k-50 which is weather proof and preforms really well in the wet. It's worth noting that the weather resistance on the body needs a weather resistant lenses as well to be used/ left out in the rain.
