Already got myself two pairs of the walking boots for taking the dogs out. Had a pair of Karrimors but the upper started to split from the lower so I had to return them and LIDL came in at the perfect moment with their walking boots  Really didn't fancy having to hunt around for another pair of boots for dog walking.

the poles (not the cork handled ones, but the ones they had a few months ago, and are mixed in with the new sort - at least in my lidl) - are pretty good, look like they're made by leki

They've also got led headtorches for 6.99 - bought one to keep as a spare in my rucksack.

They did snow goggles a few weeks ago - six quid - tried them out a couple of times and found them as good as my £40 pair

I've been toying with the idea of trying the walking poles. I don't use them at the moment but for £15 they sound like they would maybe be worth getting to try them out.

Shall take a look later.

On a side note is every Lidls laid out so that the only way to get out without buying anything is to squeeze passed the queue in the narrow gap of the only open checkout.

Yup, that's the penalty for leaving without buying anything

Had a quick look in the local Lidl (Dingwall). The poles are superficially a good deal, but they did seem to be on the heavy side, though depending how you feel about such things that may be an acceptable compromise given the price. I'd also be wary about durability - I once bought a small cycling rucksack from Lidl on which the zips failed in a rather short time, and once the zip goes ... ; also once a set of AA rechargeable batteries that turned out to hold their charge for all of about five minutes.
The principle that if you buy cheap you end up buying twice still applies to some things, it seems.

There might be 2 different sorts of poles. A few months back they had aluminium poles with plastic handles which had no shock absorbers and were pretty light. They are so similar to the Leki Sherpa poles (although not as strong) that I suspect Leki make them. Most of the poles I saw last week had cork handles and shock absorbers - heavier and not as good IMO.

Allison's been using the aluminium ones for the last few months and apart from the sections coming unstuck (easily fixed with a bit of glue) they've worked well. I bought another pair as spares - the Leki ones I usually use cost £20-odd to replace a single bent section, so worth having.

These would be the ones to go for

Those poles pictured look really good, especially at that price! Shock absorbers are a gimmick. The only pole's I'll use these days have flick locks - the twisty jobs invariably end up failing.

My Leki Sherpa came apart at glued joint so won't be buying that expensive c.. p again.
Lidls look very very similar apart from price exactly same weight, on shafts it mentions Delta Sports.
At the price they are worth a go until i find some Craghoppers my favourites till i fell over one and broke one 😕

I took a punt on the sports towel, since I've been vaguely thinking about getting a camping towel for ages. So far so good, it's a good size and neither towel nor bag shrunk in a 60° wash.

The "Crivens Hiking Rucksack" (or whatever) looks the same as the one I bought last year, which I've found perfect for day walks. The only problem is I haven't found any way to persuade the waterproof cover to stay over the top of the bag, so it's actually a good non-waterproof bag that comes with an elasticated cover for a horsefeed bowl. Or with a shower cap for someone with an impressive hairdo.

That happened to my Leki Sharpa poles too. They lasted 4 years before it happened. I'll be gluing it back in place! Scottish bog probably dissolves glue.

I shall repair and keep as spares. I had bought them then left home for a hike without them, bought a pair of Craghoppers, which i actually then liked more and used these on quite a few hikes till coming down Bidean i was looking around to see if i had company as i needed "to water the horse" promptly fell over a boulder, landed on pole, pole came off second best 😕 So had reverted to my Sherpas which came apart last weekend. Maybe the reason was that i had just said to lads with me that i'd be lost without my poles, within a few strides they fell apart, sods law ? 😂😂

Lidls do have some really cheap bargains for outdoor enthusiasts. Unfortunately I seem to miss 'em.
They had thermal underwear about a month ago unfortunately I was late out of the starter gate. Could only find one outfit that fit
Outcome for the price brilliant on a par with overpriced specialist gear. :(

Too right; I got a few pairs of long-johns and tops when they were in Lidls a couple of years ago, I'm still getting good wear out of them ~ they do the job at a fraction of the price of the expensive kit.
