We like the ultimate munro guides by Ralph storer. They give various approaches and some useful tips and pictures.

I liked these books too, I don't think Ralph ever finished the series though?

I got Cameron McNeish's The Munros from the charity shop for £1! Was £25 originally. Worth having a look just in case!

The obvious book is the SMC guide! Not the rest that plagiarised it.

Paul and Helen , founders of Walkhighlands have written a book, but I don't know how it compares with the SMC guide which we used, as we were onto other classifications of hills by the time it came out. It looks more portable, but you can photcopy the relevant page of a bigger book anyway> If it is based on the standard descriptions of walks on this site, it should be very good.

I have both the SMC guide (one from the 80s and an updated more recent one) and Paul and Helen's book. if I was only going to have one it would be Paul and Helen's Walkhighlands book - but they are a bit different sometimes describing different routes, so nice to have a selection
