Terra Nova Tents

Terra Nova Tents

Postby JamesJC » Sat Jul 13, 2019 6:42 pm

Hi Everybody,

Just recently purchased a Terra Nova tent for hiking trips with my girlfriend having got rather lonely doing completing the Cape Wrath Trail alone   The carebook says to wash and reproof the tent and lubricate the zips yet the Terra Nova telephone advisor said that they no longer advise treating their tents and just to wash with some water if dirty which I was rather surprised to hear. I then proceeded to ask why the care advice on their webpage and product manual differed to the advice she was giving me but she just simply stated it had change and after my persistence she even claimed to have "confirmed it with the sales director". Just wondering what everybody else thinks to this and if they have had the same issue?

Regards,

James

I have had a Terra nova tent for about 12 years. I have never washed it, reproofed it (apart from the ground sheet) or lubricated the zips and it is fine. It has never leaked.

the terra nova website is poor, as is their attitude to any questions that relate to their products, good tents though, generally

If they can't explain why the advice has changed, I'd assume that the person on the phone doesn't know what they're talking about.
Personally, I've never needed to wash a tent, but if it was dirty, I'd use a nikwax product and follow the instructions. Water alone probably isn't going to do much.

A TN tent should not need reproofing . Had one for 20 plus years! As for their after sales help forget it.😂😂

It surprises me the poor comments on Terra Nova customer service, I have inky contacted them twice with problems both of which were of my own making and they wredrewkly helpfully. They were both a few years ago so maybe their service has gone down hill.
