Thanks for all the feedback and ideas. I'm gutted my current breeks have gone as they served me well but it's time for a change.

Lots to look at, cheers guys.

My favs have already been mentioned, exofficio, saxx & underarmour...cheaper versions with a 6in inside leg to counter chafing will work too.

Save the basque and fishnets for home. Cotton/Lycra mix trunks type undercrackers from Next.
On a lighter note, I recently saw a charming young lady walking down the street wearing a scimpy swimsuit, high heels and fishnet stockings. Apparently this is a new trend. I approve, but wont be trying it myself.

Then there's long-johns. Put them on at the start of November, take them off (with tyre irons and a wallpaper scraper) at the start of May...

Hubby likes rohan boxers, lovely soft material and quick drying but pricey. Helly hansen boxers and Craft cool boxers with mesh have both stood the combined test of time and abuse. Hint from the missus - get a grunge colour. White doesn't stay white for long.

Sondico compression shorts £8 a pair from Sports Direct are brilliant made from 92% polyester and 8% elastane, used in Winter and Summer and never chaffed yet! Not exactly a mountain gear shop but they work well and are cheap. :D

Under Armour work for me. Particularly the longer non cotton versions. About the same length as a part of cycling shorts but quick drying. I’ve recently tried Bjorn Borg with some success (they were on sale at Sportsshoes, com). Only problem with them is they drag me towards any cupboard in a restaurant
