Waterproof socks

Hi, currently considering getting a pair . Do they do as it says on the tin and can anyone please recommend a decent pair which doesn't burst the bank ?
Cheers

I’ve used sealskin ones. Was very sceptical but they seem to work.
They feel very unusual the first time you get them wet!

As above, I use Sealskinz socks for mountain biking although not for hillwalking.

I got some sealskinz but found them a very strange shape and not stretchy like normal socks. They did not feel comfy at all. Shame as I thought I would save on new boots as my old ones were leaky.
Although it is more likely that my feet are the strange shape rather than the socks!

Love these, but the last pair I got had been repaired and leaked! They sent me a new pair when I complained though 8)

Thanks for that , another possible option, cheers

I've got a pair of Sealskinz knee high socks (army issue) and Dexshell waterproof socks. I like the latter the best out of the two.

I've got through a number of pairs of Sealskinz over the last few years. The heavy weight ones last longer, although you still have to be careful about washing/drying them. Also be aware that any sharp bits of bracken that get inside your boots can puncture the membrane.

I don't buy wool things anymore, so I've been using Dexshell Terrain socks, which I find more comfy than the equivalent Sealskinz. Again need care when washing. They will start to leak after a bit though. You can sometimes find them around £25 rather than £35. I think Aldi did them at £15 a couple of years ago, maybe they'll appear there again

Have taken up Scoob’s suggestion re the goretex boot liners. Definite improvement over all the waterproof socks I’ve tried and cheaper too. Would be fine if you had to wade in deep ( over top of boots) water and you took socks and liners off before the wade. Not sure how long they’ll last- been using now for last 5 weeks.

Bought a pair in Aldis about a year ago, still going strong after intensive use, and more comfortable than Sealskinz IMO. Have just bought a second pair.
