Hand held GP" 12 figure co-ordinates

Hi there evryone,
I'm asking for a friend that doesn't have a smart phone. Is there a hand held GPS device that gives easting and northing locations in a 12 figure reference number? The ones I found in a google seach all have the location as a national reference number which isn't suitable for my friend. Yes I know you can convert but it was to save my friend the hassle. Can anyone recommend a device that presents the location as a 12 figure coordinate such as 354784E, 860751N?

An App I have on my phone and watch is 'altimeter' this provides both elevation and global position in a number of formats. Eastings and northing being one of them.
My Garmin, quite old, will also present data in a variety of ways that are configurable. Would suggest looking at what they offer.

The BackCountryNavigator Android app will do this. But the last digit will be within the margin of error of GPS devices.

Just to confirm my original post. My frined does NOT have a smart phone...
Also, I have looked at various Garmin hand held GPS models online but they do not seem to have an option to display a 12 figure eastings northings coordinate.
Does anyone have a unit that does this or have experience of a unit that does this please?

With something like a MotoG8 Power for c£220 why buy a GPS unit? You don't have to use it as a phone or even install a SIM card but it will do far more than a GPS unit.

Hi jolly47roger, my friend isn't tech savy unfotunately. I see some of Garmins wearables have a widget you can upload to them which converts location to the UTM format. I don't suppose anyone has experience of this?

Garmin units use the OS Grid Format not the pure Eastings Northings format with the OS grid letters converted to numbers.

For example, Ben Ledi is Grid Ref: NN 5623 0977 • X/Y co-ords: 256236, 709777

The "NN" is the same as a the "2 / 7" prefixes.

The OS Maps that you can have loaded up on the phone will give both eight and the twelve digit Grid refs...just press on the feature.
Seems to be more manageable to have the eight fig reference and the two letters within each 100 Kl. square rather that handling East six digits and North six digits. Two letters and eight digits or even just six digits would be good enough for most of us.
