Gortex glue

Gortex glue

Evening all
The pockets on my rab gortex jacket have delaminated so wondering if any one has had success with fabric glue. If so what type I’m intending on trying to re glue the seems.

Hi Chris,
I can't help with recommendations for glue, but have used Tuff Tape to repair goretex jackets and trousers. You could cut it in strips and stick it on the seams. If you round off the corners it will stay in place for longer.

Try spinnaker tape which is incredibly sticky but light, thin and flexible, used for mending sails .. brilliant stuff

I've just glued a rucksack and trainer insoles back together with this stuff: https://bond-it.co.uk/adhesives/contact-adhesive/

The rucksack seams/glue had perished and this stuff has saved it from the bin.

I bought a 250ml can which comes with an integral brush.

It seems to work very well. Best to apply it outdoors though as it's pretty potent. It's fine once dry and seems to remain flexible and holding the material I've used it on together nicely.

I've not tried on Goretex but can't see why it wouldn't work.

There's also seam seal that's marketed for outdoors kit.

It says specifically in your link that it is not to be used on PTFE, which is what Goretex is.

Ah my apologies, as I said I'd not tried it on Goretex. I bought it to fix some insoles and needed a that particular type of glue. After fixing the insoles I tried it on the rucksack as the glue on the seams after 13 years had disintegrated.

Best bet is likely seam seal either the glue or the tape.
