Camping stove question

Camping stove question

Postby yourname » Sat Jul 11, 2020 2:18 pm

Hello!

I have a wee question about camping stoves. I'm fairly new to camping to if this is a stupid question, forgive me.

I tested out my stove (primus mimer duo) today and when I lit it, even though it was giving off a lot of heat, I couldn't see any flame.

Am i going to blow up, or is this normal?

Ta!

Daylight testing I think?
Hold something darkish behind it, you'll see a flame.
As long as it's hot, it's burning. It won't blow up.

General word of advice: the mimer duo is a great stove, but don't tighten it too strongly to the canister. The black piece of alu may bend slightly. Nothing dangerous, but your pots won't be level if it bended.

Also, with a stove like that, invest in or build a wee windshield. You'll use a lot less gas and heat your stuff up quicker.

Thanks a lot for the tips!

I was testing it outside in daylight and when i tested it out in a darker and more sheltered place, there was a flame. I suppose it must have been the daylight or the wind.
