NB. This board is for reports on multi-day long distance routes - reports on simply long walks should be added to the standard boards.
Warning Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.

Considering that you are traversing the length of an old canal route, there is a surprising amount of altitude to this walk (on both the low and the high routes).
For those with full ruck sacks, don't worry about it too much, it's all relatively easy to manage with few steep sections and decent paths to follow.
The high routes are recommended as they allow you to get above the tree cover and look along and across the glen to give you a grand sense of the geological forces at play here.
I wild camped about a mile out of Clunes in the forest and about a mile before Drumnadrochit in woodland, both easily accessible from the GGW path.
Highlights: I loved the high routes either side of Invermoriston and the Glen Rowan Cafe in the village was very accommodating.

Itinerary
Fort William to Clunes - 26km length travelled / 7hrs time taken / 100m ascent
Clunes to Fort Augustus - 30km/7hrs/320m
Fort Augustus to Drumnadrochit - 31km/9hrs/1180m
Drumnadrochit to Inverness - 33km/8hrs/640m
