Well, Part 2 definitely lived up to the promise of Part 1 (the read I mean - the walk looked seriously tough with all that unwonted wet stuff... :D ). Great stuff, and well done in completing it in a oner. That really is no mean feat    .

I was interested to see that you did the whole thing without a sleeping bag - impressive!!!

On a more serious note: presumably you had something like Allison's sleeping bag? And looking on the Feathered Friends website, it doesn't look as if their bags are made with water-resistant down. How did you manage to keep the bags reasonably dry/insulating when you seemed to spent approaching half of the trek partly submerged???

We use one of the Penguin bags from Feathered Friends which is basically a quilt that zips over a base liner which has 2 mats. Hence only one sleeping bag required, a big saving on bulk and weight in the rucksack. I was worried that it would get wet, and you’re correct, its not hydrophobic down, but it was alright. We just made sure it was inside a waterproof outer bag when it was in the rucksack. If it had been colder, condensation might have been problematic.

As for the re-branding of our names- Otters are also known as “water weasels” i see 🤣

Wow. A great read and informative account of your journey. Really enthralling. I'm glad you continued your account all the way home, l feel so many CWT reports feel "unfinished" but this is brilliant.
