Walked the Cateran Trail in September 2006. Loved the route, given advice by a local to go through Glen Beanie to Little Forter to avoid road walking. Beautiful glen, requires a degree of navigation after Loch Beanie as the path is difficult to pick up and rough for a few miles and also involves a burn crossing before reaching an estate track.Spent five days doing the trail and hardly met any other walkers.Accommodation was first class throughout and considerably cheaper than that available on the WHW. Contacted a taxi business in Blairgowrie and organised baggage transfer. Good variety of scenery and wildlife,we came across stags rutting near the path on the 1st stage as we approached Kirkmichael.
