I'm thinking of doing the GGW over 4 days with stops at Gairlochy/Spean Bridge, Fort Augustus, and Drumnadrochit.

Anyone done this, or a similar itinerary? Any thoughts or advice welcome....

Gairlochy to Fort Augustus is a fairly longish stretch - 36km? This section is fairly level throughout though so fine if you are happy with the distance. The Great Glen Way gives pretty easy walking conditions throughout, though more up and down on the bit N of Loch Ness (still gentle).

When we done it, we broke it down into four days:

Fort William to somewhere around Clunes, and wild camped.

Clunes to Fort Augustus and camped at the campsite.

Fort Augustus to Drumnadrochit, stayed at the bunkhouse.

Drumnadrochit to the end at Inverness.

It was doable, but it was hard work. Would have been better splitting it up much as per the itinerary shown here on the site.

Thanks guys. I now have a day more than anticipated, so I'm planning to stay in the hostels at Corpach, Laggan, Fort Augustus and Drumnadrochit. This will give me a shorter day in the middle for some R & R in Fort Augustus!
