Ballindallach to Grantown

The walk was superb with good variation. We started at Ballindalloch and followed the easy waymarkers on the level then climbed and zig-zagged over field boundaries, woodland and returned on the level to the into Grantown.

In places the walk was very boggy (despite attempts by previous walkers to use stones). There were some very steep climbs through woodland and hills, and at times the footpaths were difficult to follow, due to lack of signs half way round. However the OS map was used only once and towards the end of the walk.

I would recommend this walk, which took us 6 and half hours. There are no facilities on route, so go prepared with snacks and drinks. One sign indicated this was a 12 mile walk but it is clearly nearer 15 miles. We are reasonably fit, but were tired at the end.

A good section of the Speyside Way but also a bit frustrating with all those gates!!
