Read other users walk reports for the long distance trails - and add your own.

NB. This board is for reports on multi-day long distance routes - reports on simply long walks should be added to the standard boards.
Warning Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.

Otherwise one question I do have regarding maps...I found out that you need 19 maps in total to do the CWT but I also read that some could be downloaded from the internet as uyou only need them for a few miles. Would you be able to let me know which ones I defenetely need???? Many thanks in advance

Just revisited my old trip report, and realised that i missed this Question :? So here is the Maps you need, sorry if somewhat late!
Certainly don't need 19, OS 40 / 33 / 25 / 20 / 19 / 16 (just a very small part of this map by Oykel Bridge) / 15 / 9.
Also I have now added a map attachment to each part, now that I know how to do it :D

As someone who has only started doing hillwalking, I really enjoyed your reviews of the walk, now its made me more determined to actually organise a long distance walk.

I loved your pictures they really made the walk come to life. :D

What a great read and some lovely pictures. I can imagine the sense of achievement at reaching CW, and also how Michelle must have felt being thwarted so close to the end.
