Read other users walk reports for the long distance trails - and add your own.

NB. This board is for reports on multi-day long distance routes - reports on simply long walks should be added to the standard boards.
Warning Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.

With your experience of wild camping in Winter would you think the trailstar is OK for snowy conditions or would say the fly of a 2 man tent and bivy bag be a better combination?

TS is a pretty good option so long as you get it nailed down well. If pitched on deep snow its useful to have longer guys (or carry some 2mm dyneema so you can extend when needed), easier to dig small pits down to terra firma rather than have to clear a large site.
The only downside with the TS is the relatively low angles which collect snow fall but a big dump overnight is pretty unlikely.
