NB. This board is for reports on multi-day long distance routes - reports on simply long walks should be added to the standard boards.
Warning Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.

This may be a little boring for some of the more experienced climbers/walkers but I thought I'd just join in. We are a family group ,two in very late 50's others a little younger, self and brother in law ex forces. We decided to try the Great Glen Walk while sitting in a pub last winter. Two years ago we backpacked and camped Hadrian's Wall but decided this time to try the highlands, staying in b&bs and sampling the beer. We walked from 26 to 30th July, damp but good walking weather, really friendly people on route and a good time.
Just thought I'd put this to show that all types can enjoy the outdoors.
Next year the West Highland Way.

Good luck all

hi H,
I did the W H W this year, what a great time we had, thinking of doing the great glen way at some point, also low level walks are good as you had put in your post.
